A character born from material.
Born in Tunisia in 1983 and based in Milano, Salma Ouaja is a contemporary artist and interior designer whose practice spans paintings and sculpture. Trained in Interior Design, she developed a distinctive visual language centred around SAM, an abstract figure that first appeared in her paintings before taking physical form in resin. Through colour, texture and gesture, her work explores movement, adaptability, human connection and positive energy. Each painting and sculpture is developed and finished by hand, making every piece a unique expression of her artistic world.

The Birth of SAM
